Kathy Fox, LMFT

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Kathy specializes in working with couples in distress and individuals seeking deep inner work to break free from repetitive, frustrating relational patterns. She provides therapy in both English and Spanish and is licensed in Nevada and Iowa.

Kathy specializes in working with couples, helping them move beyond frustrating communication loops and reactivity to address the underlying emotional wounds driving defensiveness and distance. Her specialized clinical approach integrates Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and the Gottman Method to help restore genuine intimacy and trust. Her standard couples sessions are 60-90 minutes in length, as she finds the traditional 50-60 min therapy session is insufficient time for relationship work. She also offers 3-hour sessions for relationships in need of accelerated progress

Kathy's work with individual adults focuses on helping them slow down reactive cycles, targeting behaviors such as self-criticism, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, or defensiveness, to build genuine emotional safety internally and with others. Utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts-work, RLT, and Family Systems approaches, she assists clients in meeting their protective habits with curiosity rather than judgment. By addressing the root emotional material first, the practical tools, boundaries, and self-leadership will actually stick.

Outside the office, Kathy is a wife, mom, bonus mom, mother-in-law, and proud "Nana" (her absolute favorite role). When she's not working, you might find her browsing an estate sale for unique finds, attempting abstract painting, listening to podcasts, taking a quick cat nap with her rescue pup, LuLu, or catching a documentary with her husband.

Kathy offers virtual sessions for clients in Nevada. Her rate is $165 for individual therapy and $185 for couples therapy.
